Rabih Abou-Khalil Meditterranean Quartet in Lantaren Venster Rotterdam

Basically, you can get me enthusiastic for any jazz gig. But you can get me really excited when it comes to Arab jazz or jazz influenced by Arab music and culture. And this is what exactly happened last Wednesday during the amazing concert by the Rabih Abdou-Khalil Mediterranean Quartet in theatre Lantaren Venster in Rotterdam. The lovely Lebanese oud-player Rabih Abdou-Khalil, accompanied by drums/percussion, accordeon and tuba/ bass. An impressive blend of jazz improvisations, Arab melodies, colors and rhythms and a great sense of humor (one of the songs was titled 'Shaving is boring, waxing is painful'). What a lovely concert!
